Cardiovascular fitness exercises help to strengthen your heart which is a muscle. If done correctly they can formulate your heart beat slower and stronger and lower your blood pressure as resourcefully as your cholesterol.
If you exercise to much to soon you can "overload" your heart muscle, just approaching you can "overload" any muscle in your body. Start slow and build up all along time that you exercise whatever you do; walking, running, or use an exercise mechanism (like the Nordic Track).
It is best to discuss your exercise plan with your physician first, especially if you hold any health problems.
